Iran, France Discuss Implementation of Islamabad MoU, Regional Developments

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot have held talks on the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and recent regional developments.

During a phone conversation on Tuesday, the two ministers exchanged views on efforts to address tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, as well as issues connected to the MoU.

Iran had earlier rejected a French-supported proposal involving cooperation on clearing mines from the Strait of Hormuz, saying such operations should only be carried out by Iran under the agreement.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi warned that outside involvement could worsen the sensitive situation around the strategic waterway.

The discussion comes amid continued diplomatic efforts over regional security, maritime access, and the implementation of agreements between Tehran and Washington.
