Army Rescues Six Kidnap Victims After Escape From Bandits in Katsina

The Nigerian Army has rescued six people kidnapped by bandits in Katsina State after they managed to escape from their captors.

The victims, made up of four women and two children, were discovered by troops of the 17 Brigade during a patrol in the Unguwan Doka area of Faskari Local Government Area.

The Army said the victims had been kidnapped from Unguwan Lado in Kankara Local Government Area on June 22, 2026, before escaping and finding their way through the bush.

The rescued individuals were identified as Umaima Isiaku, Amina Isiaku, Safiya Isiaku, Ramatu Suleiman, Muhammad Shehu, and Ibrahim Suleiman.

The military provided immediate medical attention, food, and other basic assistance before handing them over to their families.

The Commander of the 17 Brigade, Brigadier General Ishaya Ibrahim, assured residents that security operations would continue to tackle banditry and other criminal activities in Katsina and surrounding areas.
