Eight Die in Kebbi Farmers-Herders Clash, Curfew Imposed

Eight people have been killed following a violent clash between farmers and herders in Gulma Town, Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed that the victims included one farmer and seven herders, while five people, including a woman, were rescued by security operatives during the crisis.

Police spokesperson SP Bashir Usman said the incident began on Monday afternoon after a herder, identified as Yaron Buba-Dogo, allegedly allowed his cattle to enter the farmland of Alhaji Aminu Ala, destroying crops.

He said a confrontation followed between the two men, during which the farmer was allegedly stabbed and died at the scene.

The incident reportedly triggered anger among residents, leading to attacks that resulted in the death of the herder and further violence against members of the community.

Security agencies later recovered additional bodies and rescued trapped victims, who were taken to the Argungu Divisional Police Headquarters for safety.

The state government has imposed a curfew in the affected community as security forces continue patrols to restore peace and prevent further violence.

Police said investigations are ongoing to arrest those responsible, while residents have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies.
