Ukraine and Russia have carried out fresh drone strikes against each other, intensifying the ongoing war and causing damage to key energy and civilian infrastructure, according to reports from both sides.
Ukrainian forces launched coordinated drone attacks targeting Russian energy facilities across several regions overnight. One of the most significant incidents occurred in Taganrog, in Russia’s Rostov region, where a fire broke out at a port after drones struck a tanker, a fuel storage tank, and an administrative building. Local authorities said two civilians were injured when a drone hit a residential property.
Russian regional officials also reported additional strikes on oil and fuel infrastructure, including facilities in Krasnodar Krai and near Yaroslavl. A refinery in Volgograd reportedly suspended operations following the attacks.
On the Ukrainian side, authorities said Russian forces launched around 90 drones and two ballistic missiles overnight. In the Zaporizhzhia region, power outages left roughly 13,000 residents without electricity after energy infrastructure was damaged. The Sumy region also reported destruction of homes, vehicles, and public utilities.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia may be preparing a larger-scale offensive and urged allies to speed up military support, including air defence systems.
Russia has also warned of expanded strikes on Ukrainian territory, further heightening tensions. Meanwhile, reports indicate that a Russian drone incident in Romania has raised concerns among NATO members.
The latest exchanges mark a continued escalation in long-range drone warfare, with both countries increasingly targeting energy and infrastructure sites deep inside each other’s territory.
