The Sokoto State Government has distributed a financial gift of 1,000 Saudi Riyals (about ₦450,000) to each of its 2,410 pilgrims currently performing the 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
The announcement was made on Thursday night in Mina by the State Amirul Hajj, Muhammad Mai Gari Dingyadi, who explained that the gesture was approved by Governor Ahmed Aliyu to support pilgrims as they conclude their religious duties and prepare for their return to Nigeria.
According to him, the payment is intended to help ease the financial burden of the pilgrims during their final days in the Holy Land and their journey back home.
He praised the conduct of the Sokoto pilgrims, noting that they observed Saudi laws and maintained discipline throughout the pilgrimage.
Dingyadi also stated that none of the pilgrims from the state was involved in any misconduct, describing them as good ambassadors of Sokoto State.
He further reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting citizens, especially those undertaking the Hajj exercise, adding that the administration remains focused on improving welfare across the state.
The Amirul Hajj encouraged the pilgrims to continue praying for peace, unity, and progress in Sokoto State and Nigeria as a whole, as well as for the success of Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration.
