Italian authorities have arrested two Nigerian nationals alongside three other foreign suspects over the alleged gang rape and abduction of a Colombian tourist in Rome.
The suspects, identified as Isibor Wisdom, 29, and Paul Nwabueze, 39, were detained with three others from Gambia and Mali, according to police reports. All five are currently in custody as investigations continue.
Police said the 32-year-old Colombian tourist was reportedly lured away from a restaurant on May 19 by a man who offered to sell her cannabis. She was then allegedly taken to an abandoned building on the outskirts of Rome, where she was held for about three days.
Authorities allege the woman was repeatedly assaulted, drugged, and threatened during her captivity before she managed to escape and was later found by a passerby, who alerted emergency services.
Italian police subsequently raided the building, leading to the arrests. Investigators are still searching for additional suspects, including the individual who allegedly lured the victim and the driver who transported her to the location.
The suspects face charges related to aggravated sexual assault, with authorities describing the case as involving the victim’s vulnerable condition. Investigations are ongoing.
