Pakistan has reportedly deployed thousands of troops, fighter jets, drones, and air defence systems to Saudi Arabia under a mutual defence agreement signed between the two countries.
According to Reuters, the deployment includes around 8,000 military personnel, JF-17 fighter aircraft, and Chinese-made HQ-9 air defence systems as tensions linked to the Iran war continue across the region.
Security and government sources said the forces were sent to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s defence capabilities in case of further attacks. Pakistani personnel are said to be operating the equipment, while Saudi Arabia is financing the mission.
The report also stated that additional Pakistani troops could be deployed if the situation escalates further. Sources revealed that the defence pact allows for large-scale military cooperation, including the possibility of deploying up to 80,000 Pakistani troops to help secure Saudi borders.
Pakistan has simultaneously played a diplomatic role in the regional crisis, helping mediate talks linked to the Iran conflict while maintaining close military ties with Riyadh.
