At least 18 people, including women and children, have died after a heavily loaded cargo truck carrying Afghan returnees from Pakistan overturned on a highway in eastern Afghanistan.
The accident occurred early Saturday in Laghman province’s Qarghayi district, when the vehicle reportedly veered off the road and fell into a ditch. Authorities say the truck was transporting recently returned migrant families along with their belongings as they headed toward Kabul.
