Jonathan Honours Yar’Adua, Describes Him as a Symbol of Integrity and Selfless Leadership

Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has paid tribute to the late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, marking 16 years since his passing and remembering him as a leader defined by humility, integrity, and service to the nation.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Jonathan reflected on his time serving as vice president under Yar’Adua, describing their relationship as both professional and deeply personal. He said the late president was not only a superior but also a trusted partner committed to building a united and just Nigeria.

Jonathan highlighted that their administration was guided by a shared vision rooted in the rule of law, democratic values, and inclusiveness. According to him, Yar’Adua believed strongly that national progress depends on transparency, accountability, and respect for the electoral process.

He further praised Yar’Adua’s leadership style, noting that he consistently placed national interest above personal ambition and worked quietly but decisively to promote stability and peace across the country.
