Israeli Strike in Gaza City Leaves 10 Dead, Including Children

At least 10 Palestinians, among them four children, were killed after an Israeli air strike targeted a residential area in Gaza City late Wednesday, according to local health officials.

More than 20 others were reportedly wounded in the attack, which struck northern Gaza despite an ongoing ceasefire arrangement that has faced repeated violations from both sides.

Witnesses and local reporters said the strike hit an area where displaced families had been sheltering. Children were reportedly playing nearby when the explosion occurred, sparking panic among residents already living under constant fear of renewed bombardment.

The latest attack came only hours after funeral ceremonies were held for Mohammad Odeh, a senior Hamas military commander killed in an earlier Israeli strike. Israeli officials described Odeh as a key intelligence figure linked to the October 7, 2023 attacks and said he had recently assumed leadership of Hamas’s armed wing.

Relatives of the victims and Gaza residents say conditions in the enclave continue to worsen, with many insisting that the ceasefire has brought little improvement to daily life.

Gaza authorities have accused Israel of carrying out thousands of violations since the truce began in October, including restrictions on humanitarian aid deliveries. Officials claim that only a fraction of the agreed aid trucks have been allowed into the territory, deepening shortages of food, medicine and shelter.

Tensions remain high as fears grow that fighting between Israel and Hamas could escalate again into full-scale war, with both sides accusing each other of breaching ceasefire terms.
