Israeli air raids and ground operations in southern Lebanon have reportedly killed at least 31 people and injured dozens more, according to Lebanese health officials, as fighting along the border continues to escalate.
The strikes targeted several towns and villages in southern and eastern Lebanon, with Israeli forces also issuing new evacuation warnings to residents. Witnesses described scenes of panic as families fled areas affected by heavy bombardment and advancing Israeli troops.
Meanwhile, tensions between Iran and the United States have deepened after Tehran accused Washington of violating ongoing ceasefire understandings through recent military strikes in southern Iran. Iranian officials warned that any renewed attacks could trigger a much stronger response that may spread beyond the region.
In Gaza, local medical sources said the death toll from an Israeli air strike in Gaza City’s Remal neighbourhood has risen to six. Israeli military raids also continued across the occupied West Bank, including operations in Jenin and Hebron.
Oil markets reacted sharply to the uncertainty surrounding US-Iran negotiations and security concerns around the Strait of Hormuz. Brent crude prices fell slightly on Wednesday after earlier gains linked to fears of wider regional conflict.
At the diplomatic level, indirect talks between Iran and the US are continuing despite growing mistrust following recent military exchanges. Iranian authorities also announced the first steps toward restoring full internet access after weeks of restrictions imposed during the conflict.
