Iran Denies Kuwait’s Allegation of Planned Hostile Activity on Bubiyan Island

Iran has strongly rejected accusations from Kuwait that it was planning hostile actions on Kuwaiti territory, describing the claims as “baseless” and politically motivated.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said the incident involved four Iranian naval personnel who accidentally entered Kuwaiti territorial waters during a routine patrol after a malfunction in their navigation system.

Tehran stressed that it respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of neighboring countries and urged Kuwaiti authorities to avoid what it called “hasty statements and unfounded allegations.” Iran also called for immediate consular access to the detained personnel and demanded their prompt release under international legal standards.

The dispute follows a protest lodged by Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry after Kuwaiti authorities claimed a group linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had entered Bubiyan Island and clashed with Kuwaiti security forces.

Kuwait summoned the Iranian ambassador on Tuesday and formally delivered a note of protest over the incident.
