A former personal assistant to Matthew Perry has been sentenced to 41 months in prison for his role in the actor’s ketamine overdose death, bringing to a close the prosecution of five people linked to the case.
Kenneth Iwamasa was sentenced in a Los Angeles court after admitting that he injected Perry with ketamine without medical training or supervision shortly before the actor died in October 2023 at the age of 54.
Prosecutors said Iwamasa supplied the drug to the former Friends star and administered multiple injections in the days leading up to his death. Court documents revealed Perry had struggled with addiction for years and had become increasingly dependent on ketamine treatment.
An autopsy later confirmed that Perry died from the acute effects of ketamine at his home in Los Angeles.
The case also resulted in convictions for four other individuals, including doctors and drug suppliers accused of helping the actor obtain controlled substances illegally.
