Car Bomb Attack Kills 12 Pakistani Police Officers in Bannu

At least 12 Pakistani police officers were killed after a powerful car bomb exploded at a police checkpoint in Bannu, located in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

According to security officials, the attack was followed by a gun battle between security forces and armed militants. Authorities said rescue teams later recovered three surviving officers from the rubble and rushed them to hospital for treatment.

The blast caused heavy destruction around the police post, with local residents gathering at the scene shortly after the explosion.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the assault, but the region has witnessed repeated militant attacks in recent years as security forces continue operations against armed groups.

The incident adds to growing security concerns in northwestern Pakistan, where attacks targeting police and military personnel have increased in recent months.
