At least 12 people, including two children, were killed on Wednesday after multiple Israeli airstrikes targeted areas across southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese health authorities.
The strikes reportedly hit several vehicles along the highway connecting Beirut to southern Lebanon, killing eight people in one series of attacks. Images released by Lebanese media showed heavily damaged and burned vehicles at the scene.
Additional strikes near the city of Sidon and in the Tyre district killed four more people, while several others were reportedly injured.
The attacks came a day after Lebanese officials announced that 13 people, including emergency responders, were killed in separate Israeli strikes in southern towns. Authorities say hundreds have died since fighting resumed earlier this year despite ceasefire efforts.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry also reported growing damage to medical infrastructure, claiming dozens of healthcare workers have been killed and ambulances and medical facilities repeatedly targeted during the conflict.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military issued evacuation warnings to residents in several southern Lebanese towns, saying operations against armed groups in the area would intensify. Civilians were urged to move away from targeted zones for their safety.
At the same time, the Israeli army said rockets were launched from southern Lebanon toward Israeli positions near the border. Sirens were also activated in parts of northern Israel following reports of a suspected aerial threat, though no casualties were immediately reported.
Cross-border clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah have continued to escalate in recent weeks, raising fears of a broader regional conflict.
