Conditions for Jummah prayer Hanafi.

Jumu‘ah must be performed within the time of Dhuhr.

It is not valid before or after this time.

2. Place (Misr / Settlement).

It must be held in a city or large town (misr), or a place that has the characteristics of a town.

According to Hanafis, Jumu‘ah is generally not valid in small villages or isolated areas unless they resemble a town (with market, authority, population, etc.).

3. Congregation (Jama‘ah).

A minimum of three adult males besides the Imam (i.e., at least 4 including the Imam).

They must be sane, adult, and residents.

4. Khutbah (Sermon).

The Khutbah is a شرط (condition) for the validity of Jumu‘ah.

It must be delivered before the prayer.

It should include:

Praise of Allah (Hamd)

Sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ (Salawat)

Advising Taqwa (God-consciousness)

Recitation of at least one Qur’anic verse

5. Permission (Idhn al-‘Aam).

The prayer must be open to the public and not restricted to a closed private group.

It should be held with general permission so people can attend freely.

6. Leadership (Imam).

The Imam should be qualified to lead (Muslim, sane, knowledgeable).

In classical Hanafi view, it is ideally established with authority (e.g., ruler or his representative), but in modern times this is generally relaxed.

7. Attendance (for Obligation).

Jumu‘ah is obligatory (Fard ‘Ayn) on:

Adult Muslim males

Residents (not travelers)

Those who are healthy and able

It is not obligatory on:

Women

Travelers (musafir)

The sick or disabled

Children
