The Sunnah is the second source of law in Islam, after the Quran.
Narrative information conveyed by the Companions about the attitudes, actions and words of the Prophet is referred to as hadith. The sunna ordered by Allah is called sunnatullah (natural law).
If viewed from the point of etymology of language, sunnah means method. This can be concluded from the hadith of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam which reads,
فِى الإِسْلاَمِ لَهُ ا لَ ا الإِسْلاَمِ نَ انَ لَيْهِ ا لَ ا ا ا
"Whoever sets an example of a good path in Islam, then he will get a reward and the reward of those who practice it afterwards without reducing their reward in the slightest.
And whoever sets an example of a bad path, then he will receive the sins and sins of those who follow him without reducing their sins in the slightest.” (HR. Muslim: 2398)
