Sultan Meets Tinubu, Urges Politicians to Embrace Peaceful Campaigns

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday received the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where the monarch called for peaceful political campaigns ahead of the forthcoming elections.

A video released by the President’s media office showed the Sultan being escorted into the Presidential Villa by presidential aides before holding a private meeting with the President.

However, as of the time of filing this report, the Presidency had not issued an official statement explaining the purpose of the visit or the details of the discussions between the two leaders.

Speaking after the meeting, the Sultan prayed for peaceful elections and urged political leaders and their supporters to conduct their campaigns without violence.

He also called on Almighty Allah to grant Nigeria peace and stability as the country prepares for the elections.

“We need peaceful campaigns, and we pray to the Almighty Allah to grant us peace and stability in the country as we go into the election,” the Sultan said.

He added that he hoped God would grant Nigeria the best outcome for the benefit of the country and its citizens.

The Sultan’s appeal comes amid preparations for the forthcoming elections, with his message highlighting the importance of peaceful political activities, national unity and stability.
