Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have rescued six people abducted by terrorists during separate operations in Kaduna and Katsina States.
The victims were rescued on Thursday, September 17, 2026, following intelligence-led operations in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State and along the Dandume-Damari axis of Katsina State.
According to the JTF North-West Media Information Officer, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, troops of Sector 1 responded to intelligence about a kidnapping incident in Igabi and encountered terrorists transporting some of the victims.
The terrorists reportedly fled after sighting the troops, abandoning the abducted persons.
Three victims—Enock Hussaini, Abba Dauda and Kalif Haruna—were rescued. They had reportedly been abducted from Gidan Gulbi village on September 11. The victims were debriefed and later reunited with their families.
In Katsina State, troops of Sector 2 responded to a distress call concerning the abduction of civilians along the Dandume-Damari axis. The troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to flee into nearby bushes and abandon the victims.
The three rescued victims were identified as Abubakar Abdulkadir, 25; Mansir Idris, 26; and Abubakar Aliyu, 21.
The troops also recovered a black Golf vehicle belonging to the victims. The rescued persons were subsequently escorted and released to continue their journey.
Lt. Col. Danja said the operations demonstrated the military's continued efforts to protect civilians, disrupt terrorist activities and prevent criminal groups from operating freely in the region.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
