At least seven people have been killed and 40 others injured, including children, in a strike on shops at a market in Yemen’s Taiz province, according to the Houthi-run health ministry.
The strike occurred on Sunday at the Mawiya junction, where the health ministry said civilians were among those affected.
Yemen’s internationally recognised government later said its forces had targeted a Houthi military camp and vehicles at the same location.
Three military sources within the Yemeni government told Reuters that Houthi fighters had recently established a military camp near the market.
The incident highlights the continuing violence in Yemen, where the internationally recognised government and the Iran-aligned Houthi movement remain engaged in conflict.
