Press TV Reporter Naqaa Hamed Released After Nearly Two Weeks in Israeli Detention

Press TV’s West Bank correspondent, Naqaa Hamed, 38, has been released after spending nearly two weeks in detention at Damon Prison, following a decision by the Salem Military Court.

Hamed was detained on September 14, 2026, at a checkpoint near Tuqu’ in Bethlehem while covering events in the occupied West Bank. According to Press TV, she was separated from her camera crew and transferred to an undisclosed facility, where she was questioned about her journalistic work.

The report said Hamed remained in custody without formal charges during her detention.

Hamed, a Palestinian-American citizen and mother of three, has more than 15 years of experience covering political and humanitarian issues. She joined Press TV in 2024.

Press TV also reported that she had previously been injured while covering events in the West Bank, including incidents involving rubber bullets, stun grenades and tear gas.

The broadcaster said international press freedom organisations had called for her release and criticised what they described as efforts to restrict journalists reporting from the occupied West Bank.
