New Images Show Heavy Damage to US Military Base in Kuwait

Newly released images reportedly show extensive damage to a US military base in Kuwait following Iranian strikes, with several structures, including a bunker and parts of the airfield, appearing heavily damaged.

According to Press TV, the images show buildings reduced to rubble and debris scattered across the base. One bunker designed to protect personnel from attacks also appears to have been hit.

The report says the damage is consistent with separate reports from ABC News and CBS News that showed damage at several US military facilities in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

The Pentagon has not released a detailed public assessment of the damage to US installations across the region. However, a Pentagon inspector general report reportedly said hundreds of buildings and structures had been damaged.

The Pentagon says 18 US service members have been killed and 824 wounded since the war began on February 28. Six soldiers were reportedly killed in an attack on Port Shuaiba in Kuwait on the second day of the conflict.

US officials have acknowledged that some Iranian weapons have penetrated American defence systems, while US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said protecting American forces remains a priority.

Press TV also reported that the Congressional Budget Office estimated the cost of the war at about $38 billion, while a Pentagon inspector general report estimated it at $33 billion. These figures and the broader claims about the extent of the damage should be considered in the context of ongoing and contested wartime reporting.
