Israeli Forces Kill Palestinian Near Jenin Over Alleged Vehicle Attack

Israeli forces have killed a Palestinian man near Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank, after the Israeli military said he attempted to carry out a vehicular attack near the settlement of Ganim.

According to the Israeli army, the man was shot near Ganim, east of Jenin, on Sunday. The military said there were no casualties among its forces.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society said Israeli forces prevented its medical team from reaching the wounded man, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa.

In a separate incident in the central West Bank, an Israeli settler was fatally shot near the settlement of Halamish. Police said the 30-year-old man was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries.

The Israeli military said the suspected attacker opened fire from a vehicle before fleeing on foot. Security forces later detained an injured suspect at a hospital where he had sought medical treatment.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had ordered the military and security agencies to increase their presence in the area, conduct arrests and carry out further operations. He also ordered the demolition of the suspected attacker’s home.

Following the shooting, Israeli forces closed all entry and exit points to the Palestinian cities of Ramallah and al-Bireh, Wafa reported.
