INEC Announces October 9 Date for Nationwide PVC Collection Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the nationwide collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will commence on October 9, 2026, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, disclosed this on Monday in Kaduna during the North-West Zonal Interactive Meeting with staff and a readiness assessment for the 2027 general election.

Amupitan said the recently concluded voter registration exercise resulted in more than 10.7 million new registrations across the country.

He urged the commission to eliminate bottlenecks associated with PVC distribution at the Local Government Area level to prevent eligible citizens from being disenfranchised.

The INEC chairman also revealed that the commission was refining its technological systems, including voter verification, result transmission and Result Management Systems.

He noted that INEC had also introduced the eEC8A system as part of efforts to improve the management and transmission of election results.

According to him, the commission is implementing a “Zero-Failure” logistics approach, covering the early deployment of election materials, transportation, security coordination and the training of ad-hoc personnel.

The measures, he said, are aimed at ensuring adequate preparation for the 2027 general elections. If you want, I can also provide 5 alternative professional headlines for this story.
