At Least 12 Killed in Suicide Bomb Attack in Northwest Pakistan

At least 12 people, including two women and two children, have been killed and 18 others injured in a suicide bomb attack on a police checkpoint in northwest Pakistan.

The attack occurred on Saturday, September 26, 2026, in Darazinda tehsil of Dera Ismail Khan District, near the border between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.

According to police, the attacker, who was identified as a member of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), rammed a tractor-trolley loaded with explosives into the Aman Mela police checkpoint.

Regional Police Officer Khan Mubashir Malik confirmed that 12 people were killed and 18 others sustained injuries. Two officials from the Customs and Excise Department were among those killed.

The injured victims were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of those killed were also transported to the facility.

Bomb disposal teams were deployed to the scene to determine the type of explosives used. Security forces subsequently cordoned off the area and launched a search operation as investigations continued.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has experienced repeated militant attacks in recent years, amid security operations and the movement of armed groups across the Afghanistan border.

Pakistan's federal government has previously accused the banned TTP of carrying out attacks in the province after the group ended its ceasefire with the government in November 2022.
