Tinubu Needs More ‘Mad Men’ to Fix Nigeria — Ben Murray-Bruce

Tinubu Needs More ‘Mad Men’ to Fix Nigeria — Ben Murray-Bruce

Former senator Ben Murray-Bruce has urged President Bola Tinubu to appoint more results-driven officials into his administration to tackle Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.

Murray-Bruce said the President needs people who are willing to challenge entrenched interests, confront inefficient systems and reject mediocrity.

He described Central Bank Governor Olayemi Cardoso and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu as examples of officials who, in his view, have demonstrated the determination required to deliver results.

He also called for the Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna refineries to be fully rehabilitated and operated commercially, urging the government to end what he described as years of excuses over turnaround maintenance and technical reviews.

Murray-Bruce proposed that the three government-owned refineries should target a combined throughput of about 325,000 barrels per day, equivalent to half of the Dangote Refinery’s 650,000 barrels-per-day capacity.

He further urged Tinubu to appoint a highly driven official to pursue the administration’s ambition of increasing crude oil production to four million barrels per day by 2030.

According to him, ministers, regulators, agency heads and other presidential appointees overseeing critical sectors should be held accountable through clear and measurable performance targets.
