Tinubu Appoints Gbajabiamila to Lead Nigerian Delegation to Canada Investment Conference

President Bola Tinubu has approved a high-level Federal Government delegation, led by his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, to represent Nigeria at the inaugural Nigeria Diaspora Investment Economic Conference in Toronto, Canada.

The conference, themed "Invest Nigeria, Thrive Abroad," is scheduled to take place from August 12 to 15 and aims to strengthen trade, investment, and economic partnerships between Nigeria and Canada while engaging the Nigerian diaspora.

The delegation includes the governors of Borno (Babagana Zulum), Anambra (Chukwuma Soludo), Kaduna (Uba Sani), Plateau (Caleb Mutfwang), and Zamfara (Dauda Lawal).

Other members of the delegation are the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole; the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; and representatives from key federal agencies, including the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC), and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

Canadian officials expected to attend include Treasury Board President Shafqat Ali, Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism Graham McGregor, Ontario lawmaker Deepak Anand, Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown, Councillor Rod Power, and Ontario Minister of Women and Economic Opportunities Charmaine Williams.

According to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), the conference is designed as an outcome-driven investment platform that will connect international investors with investment-ready opportunities across sectors such as agriculture, technology, manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, healthcare, and the digital economy.

NiDCOM Chairperson Abike Dabiri-Erewa said the participation of senior Nigerian and Canadian officials reflects President Tinubu's commitment to deepening economic cooperation between both countries through trade, investment, and diaspora engagement.

The Nigeria Diaspora Investment Economic Conference is the first investment-focused forum organised by the Federal Government through NiDCOM to promote stronger economic ties between Nigeria and its global diaspora.
