A student opened fire at a school in Thailand's Nonthaburi Province, just north of Bangkok, on Friday, leaving one teacher dead before the attacker died by suicide, authorities confirmed.
Police said four others were injured in the shooting, including one teacher and three students. The incident occurred at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Bang Kruai district.
According to police, the gunman was a student at the school. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots before the situation was brought under control.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene as students were evacuated from the campus. Images from the scene showed ambulances treating the injured outside the school.
The school has approximately 3,100 students and 147 teachers.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the attack. The shooting comes months after another deadly school shooting in southern Thailand, where a teacher was killed and a student injured in February.
