At least six people have been killed and 19 others injured after overnight Russian missile and aerial attacks targeted Ukraine’s southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, local officials said on Tuesday.
Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia military administration, described the assault as a “massive” attack involving missiles and aerial bombs. Images released from the scene showed buildings and vehicles on fire, while several areas also experienced power outages.
The attacks also struck the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, where a ballistic missile damaged a children’s hospital in the Shevchenkivskyi district and triggered a fire at a nearby warehouse. One person was reportedly injured in the attack, according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service.
In the southern city of Mykolaiv, a Russian drone strike injured a 75-year-old woman, local authorities said.
Russia’s Ministry of Defence said its overnight strikes targeted defence industry facilities as well as transport and logistics centres in Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia.
Ukrainian Drone Attack Kills One in Russia
Meanwhile, a Ukrainian drone attack in Russia’s Voronezh region killed one person and injured two others, according to regional Governor Alexandr Gusev.
Falling drone debris also caused fires at warehouse facilities. Russian authorities said air defence systems destroyed 15 drones over Voronezh and five other districts in the region.
The latest attacks come as Russia has intensified ballistic missile strikes against Ukrainian cities, while Ukraine has increased its attacks on targets deep inside Russian territory.
