Operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command have rescued three kidnapped victims and dismantled a suspected bandits’ hideout in Makarfi Local Government Area of the state.
According to the police spokesperson, Mansir Hassan, the operation was conducted on Friday, August 21, following credible intelligence about suspicious movements around Gidan Mijin Gwaggo, Durum.
The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, directed the Divisional Police Officer in Makarfi to lead a patrol team, working alongside local vigilantes, to the area.
Upon sighting the security personnel, the suspected kidnappers reportedly opened fire, resulting in a gun battle. The assailants later fled into the surrounding bushes, with some believed to have sustained gunshot injuries.
A subsequent search of a house belonging to one Yakubu Sule allegedly uncovered a hideout used by the suspects. Three kidnapped victims, including Hamza Gimi, were found and rescued unharmed.
The security team also recovered a Boxer motorcycle suspected to have been used by the kidnappers.
The rescued victims have since been reunited with their families, while police operations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers and local vigilantes for their swift response and cooperation. He also assured residents of Makarfi and other parts of Kaduna State that the command would continue to strengthen intelligence-led policing and community collaboration to combat criminal activities.
