MTN Nigeria has warned its subscribers about fraudulent online offers claiming to provide a free 25GB data bundle as part of the company’s 25th anniversary celebrations.
The telecommunications giant issued the warning on Saturday through its official support account on X, urging customers to be cautious of suspicious links and unauthorised platforms offering the supposed giveaway.
MTN said the genuine 25GB anniversary offer is available only through the MyMTN NG App and the MTN eShop.
The company advised subscribers not to click on suspicious links, disclose personal information or make payments on websites and platforms claiming to provide the anniversary data bundle.
“Please beware of fake MTN 25th Anniversary 25GB giveaway offers circulating online,” the company stated.
MTN explained that eligible customers can access the official offer by logging into the MyMTN App and selecting “Redeem Now” on the anniversary banner. Customers can also access the offer through the MTN eShop and follow the instructions provided.
The company added that eligible subscribers may also use the link contained in an official SMS notification received about the promotion.
MTN further urged customers to rely only on information communicated through its verified channels when accessing the anniversary promotion.
The telecommunications company said the free 25GB data bundle would remain valid until the stated expiry time and advised eligible subscribers to redeem the offer before the validity period ends.
The warning follows the circulation of several online posts and links falsely claiming to offer free MTN data in celebration of the company’s 25th anniversary.
MTN therefore urged subscribers to avoid unauthorised websites and platforms requesting personal information, payments or other sensitive details in exchange for the supposed giveaway.
