Kwara Govt Distributes 2,000 Digital Devices to 70 Secondary Schools.

The Kwara State Government has begun distributing about 2,000 digital devices to 70 public senior secondary schools across the state’s 16 local government areas.

The initiative is being implemented under the Kwara State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Employment (AGILE) project of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development. It is aimed at improving digital literacy among teachers and students.

Each of the 70 beneficiary schools will receive 25 devices during the first phase.

The distribution was officially launched in Ilorin on Friday by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who was represented by his deputy, Kayode Alabi. The governor said digital literacy had become essential for education and participation in the global economy.

He said the government was investing in technology to improve learning outcomes and prepare young people for the demands of a rapidly changing world.

According to the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Lawal Olohungbebe, the equipment includes:

1,755 all-in-one desktop computers

70 printers

70 projectors

70 motorised projector screens

In addition, each beneficiary school has been equipped with a 10kVA solar power system, internet connectivity and CCTV cameras.

Three teachers from each school have also been trained to operate and support the technology.

Olohungbebe said the AGILE project is designed to improve girls’ access to quality education, enhance learning outcomes and provide students with relevant skills for the digital age.

He added that the distribution would continue beyond the first phase, while schools and host communities would be responsible for protecting the equipment and ensuring it is used strictly for educational purposes.

The devices were presented to representatives of selected schools, including United Secondary School, Ilorin; Government Girls Day Secondary School, Oke-Suna; Government Day Secondary School, Tanke; and St Anthony Secondary School, Ilorin.
