Joe Biden’s Cancer Has Spread and Is ‘Very Painful,’ Son Hunter Says

Former U.S. President Joe Biden’s prostate cancer has spread beyond his bones and is causing him severe pain, his son, Hunter Biden, has revealed.

Speaking in an interview with the BBC’s Newsnight, Hunter said the 83-year-old former president’s condition had become increasingly difficult.

“The cancer has spread, metastasized into his bones and further,” Hunter said, describing the illness as “very painful” and “very debilitating.”

Biden’s spokesperson declined to comment on the interview on Saturday.

The former president announced in May 2025, shortly after leaving the White House, that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. At the time, doctors said the cancer had already spread to his bones.

In October 2025, Biden’s spokesperson said he was receiving radiation treatment and hormone therapy as part of his cancer treatment.

Biden, a Democrat, served as the 46th president of the United States from 2021 to 2025 after defeating Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election. He previously served as vice president under Barack Obama from 2009 to 2017.

Despite his health challenges, Biden has continued to make occasional public appearances, including attending the dedication of Obama’s presidential library in Chicago in June.

His presidential memoir is scheduled to be released on November 17.
