Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has accused France and other Western countries of hypocrisy over their criticism of human rights and international law while continuing to support Israel.
In a statement posted on X on Thursday, Araghchi said France should stop lecturing other countries about human rights and international law.
He argued that France’s support for Israel’s actions in Gaza, as well as what he described as aggression against Iran, had undermined its credibility on human rights.
“The hypocrisy is blatant and embarrassing,” Araghchi said, adding that France’s policies had destroyed what he described as its “moral high ground.”
His comments come amid continued tensions between Iran, Israel and Western countries as diplomatic efforts to address the wider regional conflict continue.
