Iran Accused of Striking Two UAE Oil Vessels in Strait of Hormuz

The United Arab Emirates has accused Iran of attacking two vessels affiliated with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) while they were transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

ADNOC confirmed that the two vessels came under attack on Thursday evening, saying the situation was brought under control. No injuries were reported.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the incident, describing the attack as a hostile act and accusing Iran of using the strategic waterway as a means of economic pressure.

The ministry said such actions amounted to “piracy” and posed a direct threat to regional stability and global energy supplies.

Iran has not immediately responded to the UAE’s accusations.

The incident comes days after the UAE reported another attack on an ADNOC tanker in the Strait of Hormuz. The UAE previously blamed Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for that attack, which also resulted in no casualties.

ADNOC says 15 of its vessels have been attacked while passing through the Strait of Hormuz since the beginning of the US-Israel war on Iran in February.

The Strait remains a major flashpoint as Iran continues to restrict shipping through the waterway, while the United States has imposed its own blockade on Iranian shipping. Iran is also holding talks with Oman over future arrangements for managing passage through the strategic strait.
