China Urges Global Action to End Israeli-Palestinian Violence

China has called on the international community to take urgent action to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, protect civilians and promote a lasting peace.

Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting on the situation in the West Bank, China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, said Beijing was deeply concerned about the worsening situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and the growing number of civilian casualties.

Fu said the Palestinian issue must not be ignored amid wider regional tensions, urging the international community to act quickly to stop the violence and uphold international law.

He accused Israel of expanding settlements, restricting access to refugee camps, carrying out mass arrests and failing to prevent increasing settler violence in the West Bank. He called on Israel to halt settlement activities and hold those responsible for settler violence accountable.

On Gaza, Fu expressed concern that a lasting ceasefire had still not been achieved despite reported progress toward the second phase of the ceasefire agreement. He urged Israel and other parties to fully implement the agreement and allow humanitarian supplies to enter Gaza.

China also called on countries with influence over the parties to take concrete steps to reduce tensions and help establish a lasting ceasefire.

Fu reaffirmed China’s support for the two-state solution, saying Gaza and the West Bank are integral parts of a future Palestinian state. He urged an end to the occupation of Palestinian territory and called for reconstruction of Gaza under the principle of Palestinians governing Palestine.

China, he said, would continue supporting the Palestinian people’s legitimate national rights and working toward an end to their suffering and lasting peace in the region.
