Ceuta Leader Says Border Rush Claimed About 100 Lives.

Around 100 people are believed to have died during last week's mass migrant crossing into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, according to the city's leader, Juan Jesus Vivas.

Speaking at a meeting of the European Parliament on Thursday, Vivas described the incident as a humanitarian tragedy. He also revealed that between 3,000 and 5,000 migrants remain in Ceuta following the large-scale border crossing.

Thousands of migrants crossed into Ceuta from Morocco by sea and land last week, overwhelming local authorities and prompting Spain and the European Union to respond to the growing migration crisis.

The latest death toll highlights the dangers faced by migrants attempting to reach Europe through irregular routes and has renewed calls for stronger international cooperation on migration management and humanitarian protection.

Spanish authorities continue to provide emergency assistance while working to address the situation in the enclave.
