Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has renewed his endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election, describing him as a son of Osun State.
Adeleke made the statement on Sunday during a press conference shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared him the winner of the August 15 Osun governorship election.
The governor thanked President Tinubu for supporting what he described as a free and fair election in the state.
> “Mr. President is a son of Osun State, and I hereby reaffirm my earlier endorsement of him for a second term in the 2027 presidential election,” Adeleke said.
Adeleke had previously endorsed Tinubu despite being a member of the Peoples Democratic Party before moving to the Accord Party to contest the 2026 Osun governorship election.
He was declared the winner after securing 511,067 votes, defeating the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
Adeleke won 19 of Osun State’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11. African Democratic Congress candidate Najeem Salaam came third with 17,180 votes.
The victory secured Adeleke a second term as governor after he was first elected in 2022 on the PDP platform.
Adeleke also thanked Tinubu for calling to congratulate him on his victory and urged his closest challenger, Oyebamiji, to equally congratulate him.
“This is no victor, no vanquished. I want them to come over. I am expecting Oyebamiji, as a civilised person, to call me and congratulate me,” Adeleke said.
He further praised Tinubu for what he described as his efforts to ensure democracy continued to thrive in Nigeria.
