Two Kidnap Victims Rescued in Bauchi Forest Security Operation

Two people who were abducted by kidnappers have been rescued during a joint security operation in Gwamnare Forest, located in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The Bauchi State Police Command said the operation involved officers from the Violent Crime Response Unit, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the Ningi Police Division, and Forestry Guards. The mission was launched following an increase in kidnapping incidents in communities around the forest.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Abubakar, the operation was carried out on July 1 after the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, ordered intensified security operations in areas affected by kidnappings.

The rescued victims were identified as 50-year-old Alhaji Yahaya from Masallachi Hamlet in Dogon Ruwa Village and Alhaji Kabiru from the Gwamnare Forest area.

Police said no casualties were recorded during the operation.

Authorities added that efforts are continuing to rescue other victims believed to still be in captivity and to arrest the kidnappers responsible.

The Commissioner of Police praised the joint security team for their bravery and professionalism and reassured residents of Dogon Ruwa, Rafin Chiyawa, and surrounding communities that security forces remain committed to eliminating criminal groups operating in forests across Bauchi State.
