Two people have died and 20 others were injured after a bus crashed in the suburbs of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal.
According to police, the two victims were women aged 30 and 40 who were waiting at a bus stop when the vehicle struck them. Three of the injured are reported to be in serious condition.
Francisco Alves, the police chief for the western Sintra area, said emergency responders and psychological support teams were immediately deployed to the scene to assist victims and their families.
Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, extending his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wishing the injured a speedy and full recovery.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
