Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has condemned a deadly Russian missile attack that killed five members of the same family during a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine.
According to Zelensky, the victims were Artem and Olena Voronov and their three children—Mark, Azariah Ilay, and Emilia—after a ballistic missile destroyed their home in the village of Radushne near Kryvyi Rih, in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Several other family members, including Zakhar, Dominika, Viorika, Federica, and a grandson named Artem, remain missing as rescue teams continue searching through the rubble.
The overnight attack reportedly involved more than 70 missiles and over 280 drones launched across Ukraine. Officials said at least eight people were killed nationwide, with the heaviest damage recorded around Kryvyi Rih.
Zelensky described the strike as a "horrific crime," saying the missile completely destroyed the family's home and that forensic experts were working to identify some of the remains recovered from the site.
Elsewhere, one person was killed in Kyiv after missile strikes sparked fires in several buildings, while another person died in Poltava following an attack on a postal facility. Residential buildings were also damaged in Lviv, where several people were injured.
During the attacks, Poland reported that a suspected Russian missile briefly entered its airspace before crashing in a field near the Ukrainian border. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said investigations were continuing, although early evidence suggested it was likely a Russian Kh-101 missile.
The latest strikes came shortly after Zelensky met U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington, where he renewed Ukraine's request for additional Patriot air defence systems and the ability to produce Patriot interceptor missiles domestically.
Ukraine says stronger air defence remains essential as Russia continues to intensify missile and drone attacks across the country.
