Russian Missile and Drone Attack Kills 11, Injures Dozens in Kyiv

At least 11 people have been killed and 54 others injured after Russia launched a large-scale overnight missile and drone attack on Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

The assault, which involved ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones, damaged about 20 residential buildings and civilian infrastructure across 30 locations in the city. Two children were among those injured, while emergency crews continued search and rescue operations amid fears the death toll could rise.

Residents spent hours sheltering in metro stations as explosions echoed across the capital.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, urged international allies to strengthen the country's air defense systems, describing the attack as a "night of horror." He rejected Russia's claims that the strikes were retaliation for Ukrainian drone attacks, insisting Ukraine was exercising its right to self-defense.

The latest bombardment comes as Russia intensifies its attacks on Kyiv despite Ukraine's ongoing long-range drone strikes targeting Russian military and energy facilities.
