Registration for 2027 International STEM Olympiad Opens After August 15

Organisers of the International STEM Olympiad have announced that registration for the 2027 edition will begin after August 15, 2026, giving students, parents, and schools the opportunity to prepare for one of the world's leading STEM competitions.

The announcement followed the successful conclusion of the 2026 International STEM Olympiad and Coding Olympiad Grand Final, held in Rome, Italy, from July 2 to 8, 2026, where more than 1,150 participants and guests from 54 countries took part.

The organisers also confirmed that the 2027 Grand Final will be hosted in Lisbon, Portugal.

The International STEM Olympiad is a global academic competition that promotes excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through practical problem-solving and critical thinking rather than memorisation.

The competition is open to students from Grades 1 to 12, regardless of nationality. Participants may compete in Mathematics, Science, and Technology & Engineering, while the Coding Olympiad is now conducted separately.

To register, students or schools must create an account on the official STEM Olympiad portal, register using the student's current grade level, choose one or more competition categories, pay the required registration fee, and select an examination date once it is announced.

The competition consists of four stages:

Qualification Round (online)

Final Round

Best of the Best (BOB) Global Round

International Grand Final

All examinations are conducted under strict online supervision. Participants must keep their cameras on throughout the examination, while the Best of the Best Global Round requires two active cameras.

The organisers warned that the use of calculators, books, printed materials, dictionaries, artificial intelligence (AI) tools, or opening additional browser tabs during the examination is strictly prohibited. Any candidate found violating the rules will be disqualified.

Outstanding participants will receive digital certificates, medals, and discounts of up to 75 percent toward attending the Grand Final in Portugal.

The Qualification and Final Round examinations will be available in English, Spanish, French, Russian, Azerbaijani, and Turkish, while the Best of the Best Global Round will be conducted exclusively in English.

Detailed registration guidelines, examination schedules, and portal access will be released when registration officially opens after August 15, 2026.
