Police Arrest Security Analyst Over Allegations Against Katsina Government

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested and detained security analyst and public affairs commentator Usman Kurfi following allegations he made during a television interview accusing the Katsina State Government of sponsoring bandits for pilgrimage.

Police spokesperson DSP Abubakar Sadiq confirmed on Wednesday that the arrest followed a formal petition submitted by the state's Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Nasir Mu'azu.

According to the police, Kurfi was taken into custody after the complaint was received and a preliminary investigation was concluded. Authorities said he has since been arraigned in court, although the specific charges against him have not yet been disclosed.

Sadiq stated that the government rejected Kurfi's allegations, describing them as false, and sought legal action through the police.

Efforts to obtain comments from Kurfi, his legal representatives, and the Katsina State Government were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.

The case is now before the court for further legal proceedings.
