Iran says it has launched missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. military facilities in Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Jordan, following fresh U.S. airstrikes on Iranian territory.
According to Iranian authorities, the U.S. strikes killed at least 14 people and injured 78 others. Iran also claimed one of the attacks struck the perimeter of the Bushehr nuclear power plant.
The latest escalation comes as Iran buried its late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in Mashhad after days of nationwide funeral ceremonies. Iranian officials blamed the United States and Israel for his death earlier this year.
The U.S. military said its recent strikes targeted Iranian military infrastructure, including air defense systems, missile storage facilities, and drone sites, in response to attacks on commercial shipping in the Gulf. Washington also stated that it remains committed to diplomatic efforts despite the renewed fighting.
Iran's Revolutionary Guards warned that any further U.S. military action would trigger a stronger response. They also insisted that navigation through the Strait of Hormuz would remain under Iran's supervision.
Meanwhile, Kuwait reported intercepting several missiles and drones that entered its airspace, while Jordan said its air defenses shot down multiple incoming missiles without casualties.
Regional countries, including Qatar, Turkey, Oman, and Pakistan, have called for restraint and urged all sides to return to diplomatic negotiations to prevent a wider conflict.
