Iran FM Holds Talks in Oman on Strait of Hormuz and Regional Security

Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, arrived in Muscat, Oman, on Saturday to hold high-level talks with Omani officials on the administration of the Strait of Hormuz, regional security, and bilateral relations.

The visit is part of ongoing consultations between Tehran and Muscat aimed at strengthening maritime cooperation and ensuring safe navigation through the strategically important waterway.

According to Iran's Foreign Ministry, the discussions follow a series of meetings held over the past two months regarding the implementation of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that ended the recent conflict. Under the agreement, Iran has pledged to help restore normal operations in the Strait of Hormuz by providing maritime services for commercial shipping.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Tehran remains committed to fulfilling its obligations under the agreement and will continue coordinating closely with Oman to ensure the smooth implementation of the arrangements.

Several rounds of technical meetings have already taken place in both Tehran and Muscat, with Araghchi's latest visit expected to advance cooperation on maritime security and the safe passage of vessels through the vital shipping route.

The visit also comes after Iranian officials participated in trilateral talks in Doha with Qatari and Pakistani mediators to discuss the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, while U.S. envoys held separate meetings with senior Qatari leaders on regional developments.
