Nigerian security agencies have released photographs from the intelligence-led operation that secured the rescue of school pupils and teachers abducted by Ansaru terrorists in Oyo State on May 15, 2026.
The operation, which was completed on July 9, was carried out on the directive of President Bola Tinubu and coordinated by a Defence Headquarters-led Joint Inter-Agency Task Force. The task force comprised personnel from the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
Authorities said the rescued victims have undergone comprehensive medical examinations and received initial psychosocial care. They are expected to be handed over to the Oyo State Government before being reunited with their families.
Security officials described the mission as a successful demonstration of effective intelligence gathering and inter-agency collaboration in tackling terrorism and rescuing kidnap victims.
