Final Batch of 315 Evacuated Nigerians to Arrive from South Africa on Wednesday

The Federal Government has announced that the final group of 315 Nigerians being evacuated from South Africa will arrive in Nigeria on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the fifth and final evacuation flight, operated by Air Peace, is scheduled to depart Johannesburg at 1:30 a.m. and land at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at approximately 6:30 a.m.

The evacuation exercise was organised for Nigerians who chose to return home following recent xenophobic attacks and growing security concerns in parts of South Africa.

The government said that four previous evacuation flights had already brought 1,141 Nigerians back to the country since the operation began on June 11, 2026. In addition, 66 Nigerians were assisted by a private individual, while another 39 returned through arrangements made by Air Peace.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the Federal Government's commitment to protecting the welfare and safety of Nigerians living abroad and expressed appreciation to Air Peace and all stakeholders who contributed to the successful evacuation exercise.
