FG Opens Free CAC Registration for 250,000 MSMEs.

The Federal Government has launched applications for the free registration of 250,000 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) under a partnership between the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) and the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

The initiative, approved by President Bola Tinubu, is aimed at helping nano, micro, and small businesses join Nigeria's formal economy by removing the cost of business registration.

Successful applicants will receive free Business Name registration through the CAC, with the Federal Government paying all statutory registration fees. Beneficiaries will also receive technical training, business development support, and access to opportunities that will help improve business growth and sustainability.

How to Apply

Interested business owners should:

1. Visit the official SMEDAN portal.

2. Create an account using their personal details.

3. Complete the MSME registration form with accurate business information.

4. Select "No" when asked if the business already has a CAC registration number.

5. Review the information and submit the application.

6. Wait for confirmation from SMEDAN if successful.

Businesses already registered with SMEDAN but without CAC registration may automatically qualify for the programme.

The initiative follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SMEDAN and the CAC to formalise 250,000 nano, micro, and small enterprises across Nigeria, giving them better access to financial services, government support programmes, and regulatory benefits.
