Troops of Sector 2, Operation HADIN KAI, working alongside members of the Yobe State Hunters Group, have arrested five suspected kidnappers during a security operation in Jegalari Village, Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The operation, carried out on July 23, 2026, followed credible intelligence about the activities of suspected criminals in the area. Soldiers from the 233 Battalion, based at the Damaturu Military Cantonment, led the raid.
During the operation, security personnel recovered three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistol, assorted ammunition, and four mobile phones believed to have been used in criminal activities.
The Acting Military Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, confirmed that the suspects are currently in military custody and are being investigated to determine their involvement in kidnapping and other related crimes.
He said the operation is part of the military's ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and improve security across Nigeria's North-East region through intelligence-driven operations.
The military also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to help prevent criminal activities and protect communities.
